This is because the console can be easily updated via the internet. The console will also offer the forthcoming Profile 2.0 Blu-ray standard. Funnily enough many more pricey standalone players cannot be patched to support the new profile.

The new 2.0 profile will include extras like downloadable content like films, trailers and ringtones.
